Equine Therapy
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
All staff are trained and certified under the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA). The Eagala Model is a team approach that includes a licensed, credentialed Mental Health Professional, a qualified Equine Specialist, and horses working together with the client in an arena at all times. When inside the arena, all the work is done on the ground with the horses front and center, deliberately unhindered and never ridden, and allowed to interact with the client as they wish. This creates the space for the client, with the support of the professional facilitators, to reflect, project, and make deep connections.
EDMR
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy in which the person being treated recalls distressing experiences whilst doing bilateral stimulation, such as side-to side eye movement or tapping either side of the body.
EMDR is included in several evidence-based guidelines for the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), with varying levels of recommendation and evidence (very low to moderate per WHO stress guidelines). As of 2020, the American Psychological Association lists EMDR as an evidence-based treatment for PTSD.
Therapists offering this modality of therapy are EMDRIA certified.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug useproblems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. Numerous research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life.
Experiential Therapy
In addition to equine-assisted therapy, we offer the following types of experiential therapy: art therapy, music therapy, adventure therapy, and wilderness therapy.
Experiential therapy is an immersive, hands on form of therapy that uses expressive tools and modalities. It can help you explore difficult situations, process your emotions, and see things differently. It can also promote creative expression.
